Who's coming?

1st Horndean Wednesday and 1st Homewell will be there, last year we had seven patrols with Horndean Thursday and Hambledon Scouts also attending.

We have room for more, so do sign up if your Scouts want to brush up their camping skills.

What to expect

Leaders don't need to have a camping permit, as we can cover that within the Gunnell team.

A leader is expected to attend with each troop, but we can be flexible if you need to head off site for a bit, or share the weekend between several leaders.

All leaders will be expected to have done the new Safety and Safeguarding training.

Leaders will be helping to run the bases on Saturday morning, and will be supporting their own and other Scouts with camping and cooking skills throughout the event. Share your knowledge and skills with other troops and build networks with other leaders.

What to bring

Leaders should bring just their sleeping tent and personal kit, catering will be provided.

Patrols will need to have sleeping tents, a dining shelter, tables and benches and a camp kitchen to cook in, as well as their personal kit. Full kit list can be downloaded below.

If your patrol is cooking on fire, alter fires are available at Lyons Copse on a first come first served basis. You should plan to bring some wood and the means to chop it. Leaders must supervise Scouts chopping wood for fires, and be aware of their Scouts when using fire.

What does it cost?

As we're providing all the food for Scouts this year, we're charging £35 per Scout. No charge for leaders. No charge for Explorers who come to help run bases and judge the cooking competition.

There is a possibility of some subsidised places, please talk to Dan and Carrie and we can discuss what support is needed and can be offered.

First Aid cover

This will be covered centrally, medications to be handed into the First Aider on arrival.

Additional support

We know that some Scouts need more support, do communicate with the rest of the leaders so we can ensure all the Scouts face a similar level of challenge regardless of their abilities and needs.

As we're providing all the food for Scouts this year, we'll need a comprehensive allergies list.

How do I sign my troop up?

Simply accept the invitation on OSM sent to all Scout troops in Hawk district.

Don't forget, you have to send this out to parents/carers as soon as possible, so they can sign their children up.

Please pay for your Scouts using a bank transfer to the District Treasurer. Invoices will be sent out before the camp.

Do please sign leaders attending up on OSM so we can track who's coming.
