Come along with your troop for a weekend of camping at Lyons Copse, Shedfield. Join in the decades old tradition of the Gunnell competition camp, with challenges for the young people building their camping skills and independence
Join Hawk district Scouts to continue this decades old tradition of the Gunnell competition camp.Â
The camp has run for many years on a field on Hayling Island, capably run by the indomitable Colin Bartlett. As a competition camp, this weekend gives Scouts the opportunity to work together as a team independently of Leaders, building confidence, friendship and teamwork skills.
The camping competition moved to Lyons Copse three years ago with a new leadership team from 1st Homewell and 1st Horndean.
Scouts have in previous years taken part in many activities as part of Gunnell, all with a back to basics theme, this is not a high octane instructed event, it's one for working on those fundamental skills that really define a Scout.
This year we have some more traditional Scout activities planned including pioneering and tent skills.
