The Cooking competition can be cooked on gas stoves or on an alter fire. No ground fires are allowed at Lyons Copse.
Your Scouts should be cooking independently, but of course supervise and intervene if they need help for safety and wellbeing.
Scouts will be able to choose from three set three course menus:
The Italian Job: Doughballs and garlic butter; pasta bolognese (meat and/or veg); chocolate trifle
A Mughal Feast: Vegetable pakora; chicken (and/or quorn) tikka masala and pilau rice; mango and cardomom syllabub
Mexican Fiesta: Corn on the cob with chilli butter; soft tacos with chicken, salad, salsa and guacamole fillings; camping churros
All set menus can be adapted to accommodate any dietary needs including autistic sensory issues. Please do talk to the Gunnell team to adapt as necessary.
We'll send out a detailed recipe for each of the set menus closer to the time, so your patrol can practice cooking their meal.
The Cooking competition will be judged similarly to previous years, with a more structured scoring, a breakdown of what points will be awarded can be found below. (Rules will be reviewed and updated for 2025)
